Okehampton Otters competed in the Devon County's Championships. We had four swimmers compete in ten events achieving eight top ten finishes, including two third place and one second. They also accomplished eight personal best times. The swimmers, who are all from Okehampton, did themselves and the club proud. They will now take on the best in the South West.

Head coach, David Dennis, said we are very lucky to have such a talented group of swimmers.I have been so impressed at how well the whole club has trained and competed over the last 12 months and this shows in the swimmers achievements. Thanks must also go to the coaching team.

Last year, as some of you may know, David Dennis was selected as a coach for the Devon Talent Camp. He really enjoyed it and learnt a lot, which was reflected in our training sessions!
This year, Dave has been successful in applying for the Regional Talent Camp, meaning that he will spend three sessions coaching regional swimmers from all over the South West. This is a huge achievement and Dave will gain some important techniques that he can transfer into training sessions (meaning a lot of hard work for the swimmers!)
A huge congratulations to Dave from all the Swimmers, Parents, Coaches, Committee and the Club Captain.

David Dennis

I am the Head Coach and have been since September 2015. During that time I have seen many changes in the club. I have three moments that I am extremely proud of. Firstly, applying and getting the chance to coach the top 11-year-old for Devon; secondly getting Otters their first out and out swimmer, for at least 10 years, to achieve regional times and thirdly taking a non-swimmer, I started to teach 7 years ago and seeing her medal in her last two events at Plymouth.

Raphie Tarry

I am Club Captain and I’m passionate about swimming. I really enjoy helping the younger swimmers to develop their skills  and being able to share my love for swimming with them.

George Morgan

I am a qualified ASA Level 1 coach. I have competed in many galas over the years to both County and Regional levels. I enjoy coaching the young swimmers and hope to encourage more of them to compete in galas.

David Bowles

I am a qualified ASA Level 1 coach and assist with coaching. Both of my children swim with Otters and have competed in many galas over the years. I like to think that I can help the Otters who like to compete with the lessons I and my children have learnt from competitions.

I am also a qualified RLSS Lifesaving Instructor and help with Otters Lifesaving on a Friday evening.

Charlie Galley

I’m Charlie, a qualified ASA level 1 assistant coach. Coming from a swimming background myself it’s a privilege to still be involved with the sport and to help the kids, including my own to develop into strong gifted swimmers.
