Dawlish Firecracker Level 3 Meet 23rd October

A small but perfectly formed band of otters went to the Firecracker at plymouth last Saturday. Achieving PBs in all races Abi Graves and Ben Webster did amazingly well. It was the first time we had sent swimmers to this friendly meet which had all levels of swimmers and some really beautiful medals sadly Abi was 4th in 2 races just off the medal places for both her breastroke swims. But fun was had with hot heats and club dance offs.

New Kit

Our kit page is  up and running. Kitworld who supply the rugby club with their kit are going to be making ours as well. They are a company based in Plymouth and the full kit can be ordered here. Please also see our kit page for full details of the Otters kit.

The committee have agreed to offer Masters 2 lanes on a Wednesday evening 8-9pm Max of 6 swimmers per lane temporarily until the pool can offer then a session for themselves.

Sadly we do not have pool time or a coach yet to restart Lifesaving. Until we hear more from the pool, lifesaving is on hold.

If you are interested in joining Okehampton Otters Swimming and Lifesaving Club please email at or find us on Facebook.

David Dennis

I am the Head Coach and have been since September 2015. During that time I have seen many changes in the club. I have three moments that I am extremely proud of. Firstly, applying and getting the chance to coach the top 11-year-old for Devon; secondly getting Otters their first out and out swimmer, for at least 10 years, to achieve regional times and thirdly taking a non-swimmer, I started to teach 7 years ago and seeing her medal in her last two events at Plymouth.

Raphie Tarry

I am Club Captain and I’m passionate about swimming. I really enjoy helping the younger swimmers to develop their skills  and being able to share my love for swimming with them.

George Morgan

I am a qualified ASA Level 1 coach. I have competed in many galas over the years to both County and Regional levels. I enjoy coaching the young swimmers and hope to encourage more of them to compete in galas.

David Bowles

I am a qualified ASA Level 1 coach and assist with coaching. Both of my children swim with Otters and have competed in many galas over the years. I like to think that I can help the Otters who like to compete with the lessons I and my children have learnt from competitions.

I am also a qualified RLSS Lifesaving Instructor and help with Otters Lifesaving on a Friday evening.

Charlie Galley

I’m Charlie, a qualified ASA level 1 assistant coach. Coming from a swimming background myself it’s a privilege to still be involved with the sport and to help the kids, including my own to develop into strong gifted swimmers.
